Girls Code Savannah
Girls Code Savannah is a STEM‐based educational coding program providing FREE coding camps and classes for 5th‐8th grade girls in Savannah Chatham County Public Schools.
Thanks to generous sponsors, donors, and community support, we offer several events per year focused on providing coding education in a fun and supportive environment designed to cultivate young women's interests in technology and computer programming.
Activities focus on combining creativity and computer science to introduce the fundamental principles, technology, and skills associated with computer programming and Internet technologies.
Summer Camp 2023
Web Development Takes Flight
Last year Girls Code Savannah Summer Camp explored the depths of the Atlantic Ocean. This year, campers were flying high!
Our FREE Summer Camp was held July 10-14 at the Georgia Southern University-Armstrong Campus. The theme was centered around aerospace and aviation.
Campers visited Fly Corps Aviation, where female pilots and flight instructors shared their career journeys, and the Fly Corps Aviation team treated campers to an up-close look at flight-related technologies and aircrafts on the hanger.
Back at the Georgia Southern University computer lab, campers built computer games using MIT Scratch and coded their own websites using HTML and CSS.
Camp ended with a Camp Showcase where campers showed off their new computer games and websites to Savannah community leaders, the local media, family, and friends.
